| Welcome to Kettering, Ohio! Van Buren Township's first settler was John Patterson. Mr. Patterson, a farmer, built the area's first log cabin there in 1798. In 1952, Van Buren township became known as the Village of Kettering.
Kettering was named after the famous philanthropist Charles F. Kettering, the inventor of the automobile self-starter.

Kettering has many things to enjoy. If you like the arts you may visit
Rosewood Arts Center or several of the arts festivals throughout the area. Also make sure to visit the Kettering Children's Theatre. Enjoy an evening outdoor concert or one of the many cultural festivals at Fraze Pavilion. More recreation can be enjoyed at the Kettering Rec Center which offers a full sized ice rink. If you are a golfer you can enjoy the the inner and outer courses of Community Golf course. Two private golf courses can be found at NCR and Moraine Country Clubs. | |

Kettering is home to the Miami Valley's newest mall called The Greene. The Greene is an experience you will want to enjoy. Fashioned after Easton in Columbus, there are a variety of unique shops, boutiques & restaurants. Even pets have their own boutique. The movie theatre is one to experience as it offers reserved seating & chairside waiters. Another fun place to shop is Town & Country. Browse through Books & Company, Trader Joe's and some of the artsy boutiques and clothing stores.
Fine dining takes place at one of the Miami Valley's premier restaurants, L'Auberge. Kettering offers some long time places to eat such as Mama Disalvos, Marions Pizza and Treasure Island. |
