In 1797, the area was originally known as Hole's Station. Zachariah Hole and his family had settled here and built a stockade as protection from the Indians. The name Miamisburg came from the Indian tribe, the Miamis, who resided in the area and Burg meaning borough. Hence, Miamisburg became a village in 1832 and a city about 100 years later
The most recognized historical landmark in Miamisburg is The Mound. This was an Indian burial ground and is the largest, intact, conical mound east of the Mississippi. Another historical landmark is the Baum Opera House located on First Street in downtown Miamisburg. The Opera house was built in the late 1800's. It has had extensive interior and exterior renovations and is used for entertainment and community events.
Miamisburg centers around Miamisburg School activities and sports.

Miamisburg is host to a state of the art Sycamore Trails Aquatic Center located off Heinke Road. Enjoy the beach like entry up to an 8-lane lap pool. Kids love the tube & water slides and the water playground.
For the older kids, they can enjoy a round of gold at Pipestone Golf Course. Pipestone is a 4-Star, premier 18 hole championship course. It is a beautiful course, but don't be surprised as it is one of the more challenging courses in the area.
There are several wonderful parks scattered throughout Miamisburg.
Runners, the annual Thanksgiving Turkey Trot is one of the largest running events in the country. I have run in it before and it's a great way to start the day! | |
