At the beginning of the early 1900's, Oakwood, Ohio's growth began as farm land directly south of the City of Dayton. When the disastrous flood hit downtown Dayton in 1913, the advertisers went to town stating that while Oakwood sits on a hill it is 275' higher than the section of Third & Main downtown. This made Oakwood attractive and by the 1930's, the new City had a population of over 6,000. In 2000, there were 9,215 residents. | |
